1710: The first law regulating copyrights is issued in Great Britain... the law is immediately pirated by the Chinese.
1865: A day after his surrender to Union forces, Confederate General Robert E. Lee addresses his troops for the last time. He reminds them that losing the war is no excuse to marry their sisters.
1953: Warner Brothers premieres the first 3-D film, entitled House of Wax. It is available in no theaters.
