At noon today I got my 152nd visiting flag registered. A visitor from Windhoek, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Namibia entered my blog from Blogger.com.
Namibia is a country in Southern Africa whose western border is the Atlantic Ocean. It shares borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana and Zimbabwe to the east, and South Africa to the south and east. It gained independence from South Africa on 21 March 1990 following the Namibian War of Independence.
The Flag og Namibia:
Red - represents Namibia's most important resource, its people. It refers to their heroism and their determination to build a future of equal opportunity for all;
White - refers to peace and unity
Green - symbolises vegetation and agricultural resources
Blue - represents the clear Namibian sky and the Atlantic Ocean, the country's precious water resources and rain;[1]
Red, white, and blue were the colours of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance, and blue, red, and green the colours of SWAPO.

Namibia was not extensively explored by Europeans until the 19th century, when traders and settlers arrived, principally from Germany and Sweden. Namibia became a German colony in 1884 to forestall British encroachment and was known as German South-West Africa.
I add this reference to the Germans with a special "Speedy recovery" greetings to my wife´s friend Erik Boye and their common adolescence memories of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest where the Germans stopped the Roman Empire´s expansion to the north. The result of the battle was that the Rhine became the border of the Roman Empire in the next four hundred years. The Romans were never able to conquer Germania, and no conquest attempt was made for this.
