What is it about those chairs?

I saw these today at Nadeau. $245 each What a price!

They aren't quite as elegant as this original Frances Elkins chair offered by Todd Merrill at 1st Dibs.

But the originals are considerably more expensive ($8500 for the set of 6 chairs, 2 armchairs and 4 side chairs).
